Every programmer’s first program prints “Hello, World!”, so it felt like the right way to open our blog.
This is a space for the freeCodeCamp London community: people who come to our meetups, people who are learning to code on their own and want company, and experienced developers who enjoy helping others get started.
What we will publish
- Meetup recaps: what we built, what we learned, links to the slides and code.
- Tutorials: small, practical guides, from your first JavaScript function to running a language model on your own laptop.
- Learning stories: how you got into coding, what clicked, what did not, and what you would tell someone starting today.
- Community news: new events, venues, partners and projects.
We are looking for authors
You do not need to be an expert. A beginner explaining something they have just understood often writes the clearest guide there is. If you came to a meetup, finished a freeCodeCamp certification, solved a tricky kata or built something you are proud of, we would love to read about it.
How to submit a post
Posts are Markdown files in this website’s repository, and you send them as a pull request on GitHub. It is good practice for working on a real codebase, and the organisers are happy to help with your first one.
- Fork freeCodeCampLondon/fcc-website (opens in a new tab) on GitHub.
- Copy
src/content/blog/_template.mdto a new file named after your post, for examplemy-first-hackathon.md. - Fill in the details at the top and write your post.
- Preview it with
npm run dev, then open a pull request.
The full steps, and what we check before publishing, are in CONTRIBUTING.md (opens in a new tab). If you get stuck, ask in our Discord (opens in a new tab).
Thank you
This blog was started by community member deej-tsn (opens in a new tab), who built its first version. We look forward to reading your posts.
